A skier is in court in Denver, where he was arrested after allegedly stealing $4 million from the ski shop owner.
The ski shop in north Denver had been closed since February after a skier fell off a lift and fractured his neck.
The victim, who is a family friend, said he was trying to help his brother who is paralyzed.
“I’m sorry to say I’m a thief.
I’m not sure if I could have been a better employee, I’m sorry, I was just trying to do what I had to do to help him,” said James Cramer, a skiers friend.
He pleaded guilty Tuesday to embesissmealing and was sentenced to 20 months in jail.
Cramer is charged with embezlement and conspiracy.
He was released from jail Wednesday after posting $3,000 bond.
The case is in the court system.
Prosecutors said Cramer and the victim were friends who had met in a ski shop at the resort in March 2016.
