BUDDY GUNS SHOP in the small town of Gresham, Oregon, has closed its doors in what it calls “a tough time.”
The shop’s owners say the community is hurting from the downturn in the retail industry.
Guns-For-Hire, which started in 1989 in the Portland area, has been the largest gun store in the United States since 2008.
It was sold to a local family in 2006.
The family decided to keep it open for good after the closure.
The shop has been open since 1997 and is the only gun store to sell guns directly to the public.
But the owners said their shop was closing in the midst of a major downturn in business.
Gresham Mayor Mike Blevins told the AP he’s hopeful the community can find a solution to a tough time.
He said it’s difficult for businesses to keep open during economic downturns.
