Israeli beer bar, thesysco, is shutting its doors due to a boycott of its products.
Thesysco is one of Israel’s biggest and most popular craft breweries, with over 2,000 employees.
The shop’s owner, Avi Shmuel, told The Jerusalem Times that he is now working on a new venture.
He said he received the news from the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. The embassy said in a statement that it was aware of the news and would discuss the matter with the Israeli Government.
Israel has a history of banning craft beer, and thesyscos work has been instrumental in keeping craft brewers out of the country.
I cannot think of any other industry in the world where the same thing is happening, Shmiel told the Times.
It is a shame, he added, as craft beer is something that should be celebrated in the Jewish state.
